Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 April 2026

Welcome to Beetle. Beetle is a free art market intelligence platform built and operated by Beetle IO Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales ("Beetle", "we", "us"). These Terms describe what Beetle is, how you can use it, and the legal arrangement between you and Beetle IO Ltd whenever you visit beetleio.com or any associated subdomain (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

Who can use the Service

Anyone can browse Beetle. You don't need an account. To agree to these Terms, you must be at least 18 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian if you're younger. If you're using Beetle on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

Using the Service

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service while these Terms are in effect. You're free to browse and search Beetle, refer to it in your own writing, research, or reporting (with credit and a link back where appropriate), and save individual pages for personal reference.

When using Beetle, please don't:

These limits exist to keep Beetle fast, free, and useful for everyone.

Content on Beetle

A lot of what you see on Beetle — auction records, biographical information, portrait photographs — comes from public sources, including auction houses, openly licensed reference works, and Wikimedia Commons. Where attribution is required, the relevant credit is shown alongside the content. If you reuse anything from Beetle elsewhere, please respect the underlying licence and credit the original source directly.

Beetle's own work — its software, design, structure, taxonomies, analytics, and the way the data is organised and presented — belongs to Beetle IO Ltd. The Beetle name and logo are our trademarks, and you may not use them without our permission.

If you believe content on Beetle infringes your rights, please get in touch through the contact details on our About page and we'll review the matter promptly.

Information, not advice

Beetle exists to help you understand the art market. It is not a financial adviser, valuer, or authentication service, and nothing on Beetle is investment, legal, or professional advice. Decisions about buying, selling, valuing, or insuring works of art are yours to make, and where the stakes matter, you should speak to a qualified professional first.

Service availability

We work hard to keep Beetle online and up to date, and we offer the Service on an "as is" basis. We may add, change, or remove features as Beetle evolves, and we don't guarantee that the Service will always be available or free from interruption. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Beetle IO Ltd will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising out of your use of the Service, including loss of profit, revenue, data, business, or opportunity. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to one hundred pounds sterling (£100).

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under the laws of England and Wales.

Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms occasionally — for example, to reflect new features, legal changes, or how we operate. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Beetle after an update means you accept the revised Terms; if you don't, please stop using the Service.

Governing law

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute, except that nothing here limits any non-waivable right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.

About this agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the full agreement between you and Beetle IO Ltd concerning your use of the Service. If any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms isn't a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
